One of the senior actors Hema Chaudhary was in mood and moments when she spoke to this correspondent on Thursday night before the start of the media meet of ‘Daasavala’ Kannada cinema at Citadel Hotel.
Beginning her discussions on a serious joke Hema Chaudhary complained about the media. At the Bhageerathi audio release event mentioning all others name on the dais for my name the media mentioned the name of Dr B Saroja Devi. I was shocked. I was pacified by my friend. At least they have written the name of living legend! In the earlier days I was having very high respect and even fearing. Nowadays such respect is missing because they disrespect us she pointed.
Hema Chaudhary as we all know is a frequent visitor to various goddess temples. Kashi Vishalakshi and Banashankari Devi were left out in her list.
It was a coincidence in the house when she was watching ‘Banashankeri temple’ religious program. I have missed out ‘Banashankeri Devi’ temple visit so far was the question cropped up in her mind. Suddenly she got a call from MS Ramesh but he only said shooting will be held in ‘Badami’. It was so matching for Hema Chaudhary like how women get perfect matching blouse for their saree in a quick time in market.
Hema Chaudhary was jumping in joy (she literally dances in ‘Dasavala’). But she did not get call for shooting for months. In this gap she bought a silk saree for Banashankeri Devi. She was just seeing the Saree every day thinking when she is going to present it go goddess.
The practice of Smt Hema Chaudhary is that in the 36 years of her career 28 years whenever she signs a film she keeps a portion of remuneration for a silk saree to present it to any one of the goddesses temples. Like that she had traveled to all the ‘Goddesses’ temples all over South India and donated silk sarees.
After many months MS Ramesh called up saying shooting is fixed and needs 20 days shoot timing at Badami. It was time for Hema Chaudhary to present the saree she bought this time. She had done it so.
That does not end the matter of ‘Goddess’ visit. She is going to Banashankeri Devi temple with Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana and another friend and spending three days in the coming days.
Hema Chaudhary is a straight forward personality. I have not got awards so far she says. I got consoled when V Ravichandran got state Rajyotsava award recently she says. That is because V Ravichandran is such a big achiever getting it last year was a disgrace. Like that Dr Bhanumathi – actor, singer, dancer, music director, producer, director not recognized at the national level hurts Hema Chaudhary.
